Valentine’s Cape Town

When it comes to Valentine’s Day people, generally fall into one of two camps.

Either it’s one of their favourite fake-holidays and the most romantic day of the year, or they consider it a made-up day created by greeting card companies to make money.

Whichever camp you fall into the day is almost upon us, and it’s a great excuse to go out and do something you wouldn’t usually do. We’ve rounded up a few ideas to get you started.

Visit the End of the World

Love your partner “to the ends of the Earth”? Take them there! The most southern tip of Africa lies just one and a half hours from Cape Town. Towering more than 200m above the sea, Cape Point boasts spectacular views. Skip the grueling walk from the car park to the lighthouse and take a scenic trip on the funicular. From that high perch, the ocean stretches the horizon, and you can see the Indian Ocean meet the Atlantic.

Ride Off into the Sunset

The Western Cape boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Which is great, until they get so packed, you can barely find space to put down a flip-flop nevermind a towel. For Valentine’s Day, why not make the effort to go a little further and experience a whole lot more. Pack a picnic and head to picturesque Noordhoek. Start your beach experience with a horseback ride along the coast. After you’ve dismounted, find a secluded spot and tuck into that picnic!

Stick to the Streets

Promenades and long walks on the beach, not your thing? No problem! The walls of Woodstock are covered in fascinating works of art waiting to be discovered. Book a walking tour with a local guide and explore a world you’ve only glimpsed. Following an insightful outing find a table at one of Woodstock’s many endearing eateries for a romantic meal.

Waddle Away the Day

Want to see what true love looks like? Look no further than Cape Town’s Boulder’s Beach! Home to thousands of penguins, most of them mate for life, and you can catch a glimpse of their romance only 30mins outside the city. Get up close and personal with some of nature’s cutest creatures while enjoying dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

There are almost countless options for you to explore on Valentine’s Day in Cape Town. Whether you decide to head out on an adventure or do something romantic at home, the most important thing is spending it with the person you love doing something you both love.

Until next time,

The Point Team, x
