Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Saving Second Base

Breast Cancer Awareness Month at The Point Mall

This October, The Point Mall partnered with Bergman, Ross & Partners In October to bring you a Bra Donation Drive

Being diagnosed with breast cancer is a life-changing experience. It can be hard to handle the news at first, and even harder to know how to proceed, no matter your prognosis. Spreading awareness is the best way to protect our sisters from this disease and save precious lives.

During the month of October we ran a bra drive for breast cancer awareness month. We set up a donation box at the entrance of The Point Mall which allowed passers by to either scan the snapscan code to donate their preferred amount of money to our bra drive or drop their old or new sanitary products in the box. At the end of the month, we managed to collect:

  • 204 bras. These included padded bras, teen/children bras, underwire bras, sports bras as well as swimwear.
  • 73 sanitary products. These included tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, bars of soap, packs of pads and boxes of tampons.
  • We raised over R700.00 with which we bought extra bras as well as sanitary products.

All toiletries and sanitary products are grouped and packaged into shoebox care packages for centres that lend aid to abused women and children. The collected bras will go to Bergman, Ross & Partners bra drive which is aimed at collecting and distributing donated bras to empower all women and help those in need.

We thank you for all the donations and we appreciate the difference you are willing to make.

Kind regards,
